Summary
A year after Deathstroke is reportedly killed by the Justice League, the mercenary formerly-known-as Renegade takes the name Nightwing and strikes out on his own. He has two goals; protect the innocent, and try to wash the blood off his hands. He knows it won't be easy. He just doesn't know what to do with the fact that, after he rescues a group of heroes from Brother Blood's clutches, they decide it's their job to look out for him too.
This work is an unofficial sequel to Forestfire34720 's incredible fic "i'm no hero / starting from zero" and it might not make much sense without reading that first.

By way of a note left on the dining table, at eleven at night, with no Anya to be found.
Logically, she decided to hide out in the last place anyone would go looking for her, just in case the response to that particular reveal was... less than ideal.
