And yet...Buggy the Clown, an (former) apprentice of the Roger pirates and holder of the Chop-Chop fruit, becomes a marine.

There lay a head and a body in an alley in Loguetown.
On the third day. The corpse twitched.
All at once. The crunch of bones first, crackling and popping like the escaping of air in joints. Crawling out from the fatal wound, pure white as if bleached by the sun. The periosteum came next, fibrous and fatty to protect the new formations. Nerves and sinew pulsed and crawled along like a fungus. Fat and musculature inched along in layers. Organs, colorful and bare. Skin grew like bacteria in a petri dish, cultured along different spots and spreading outwards. Hair forced itself outward.
On the third day, there were two bodies in the alley.

The paper is old and fragile in his hands. It feels like if he bends it, it will snap and crumble into dust. The parchment- stained yellow and brown with age- smells of mold and dirt. The writing is smearing in some places, the lettering barely legible, but the fifteen-year-old recognizes the writing and can make sense of it.

“Why are you here?” he asks, and honestly Tony hates everything about this.
The forced conversational tone, the way Loki eyes him suspiciously like he’s just going to call the cavalry on him and be done with it, which is honestly what Tony should be doing right now. Six months ago Loki Odinson broke out of SHIELD custody at the price of two dead and five injured. Not to mention the property damage that of course Stark Industries covered in full. But something about Loki—maybe the soft pajamas, his messy hair, his bare feet on the cold floor, or the limp he’s trying to hide as he crosses the kitchen to get himself a glass of wine—makes Tony want to figure this out on his own first.

“I say…I want shawarma.” Stark puts his hands out like he’s just solved world hunger.
“Well said,” Clint agrees. “I am huuuungryyyyy,” he stretches out. Natasha can tell that he just wants to get an excuse to be as far away as possible from this city. He has a family to support unlike the rest of them.
“Well what do we do with Loki?” Steve poses.
“I’ll call Fury about that.”
...
“I guess if you’re gonna keep giving me those puppy-eyes,” Tony finally says. “But seriously can we get shawarma now? I’ve free- fallen out of a portal in the middle of the city and I’m starving.”
