Summary
Here, surrounded by his own element he feels calm for the first time in months.
He briefly considers letting the river take him away, to wash off all of his sins with a gentle embrace. Water lulls him and beckons to give himself away to the delicate flow. He imagines how it would feel to let water into his lungs; to choke and flail until he was no more — just a husk to feed fish and crustaceans.
