Christofer lay a gentle kiss to her brow, to the furrow of worry between her eyes that had long since made its mark on her face. "I love your lines, your scars, those grey hairs you try to pretend don't exist... They're the proof that you have lived your life to the fullest."

    Kate's breath hitched in her throat.

    That was the first time either of them had said anything close to those three little – but phenomenally significant – words, "I love you."
