He’s not sure what to expect now that Lois is back in town. Technically, nothing happened between them, but he can’t forget how it almost did. He kissed her, almost, She told him she loved him, almost. They acknowledged there was something between them, almost. Then he blinked and Lois was in Star City and Lana was back in his bed.
And Lana is great, but she isn’t Lois. Clark doesn’t know quite when that started to matter so much.
Or, Lana doesn't leave Smallville at the end of Requiem. Lois comes back anyways.

She certainly didn’t expect this in life… dating a superhero? That was already unexpected, but this aspect? She should’ve seen it coming, really, she should’ve.
Because when Clark goes out with the League for a mission, he always comes back whole. He always comes back to her in one piece, a little dirty-- which she drags him into the shower and only ten percent of the overall shower is actually washing off (the other ninety is reunion sex as Clark rawdogs her from behind against the glass). He always makes sure that the Clark that leaves for a mission whether it be a day, two days, a week, or even two weeks, it’s the same Clark that returns.
However, tonight? Tonight life wasn’t going to be so fair to her… in (kind of) the best way possible.
Because standing in the bedroom of their Smallville farmhouse… It's not just Clark. There’s two of them. Two of her husbands, except a little different.
Or... during a mission gone wrong, Clark Kent and Superman get split apart, becoming two different men but going home to the same woman... and Lois Lane has always wanted to go to Paris!

Lois swallows harshly, trying to keep her willpower and maintain calm. "Maybe." she says, turning to meet his gaze. "How would you know?"
In which a pretend date for donuts, fights in the Kent's trusty truck, an early breakup along with the long lost art form of self introspection and overthinking lead Lois and Clark to each other again and again. (a s7-s8 au where clois get together earlier…ish!)

Summary
She was his wife, sitting on his lap in their kitchen after making him dinner. The image was so perfectly domestic, so traditionally wifely, that it triggered something primal in him. This was what men were supposed to have, what his father had, what every man in Smallville expected as his due. A pretty woman waiting at home, devoted to his comfort, willing to arrange herself for his pleasure.
He'd never expected that from Lois. Had never asked for it, never even fantasized about it because it seemed so contrary to who she was. But here she was, offering it freely, and he felt drunk with the gift of it.
Clark and Lois explore the dichotomy of loving each other as equals, whilst also indulging in the fantasy of traditional gender roles. Set 1940s-50s. Inspired by both 9x13 Persuasion, and 6x20 Noir.

Three months without him, and she can’t believe her eyes when he’s here. Perry was asking about Clark, and Lois constantly had to remind him that he was in Smallville, taking care of a ‘family emergency’. Jimmy and Cat both knew the real reason and they kept the facade up. But here Clark was, and Lois’ eyes took in the sight forever. And before she could stop herself, her head was on his chest, arms wrapping around him instinctively.
He caught her so easy, his arms wrapping around her with a force that lifted her clean off the ground. Both hands touching both the beginning and the end of her spine, his head on top of hers. She could feel the exhaustion in his body, the aching of his bones that he fought with, the simple disbelief that he was actually home.
He smelt like shit, he needed a shower, and that god damn beard needed to go. Fast.
Or... after a three-month long space expedition, Clark comes back, with a whole lot of hair on his jaw... Lois doesn't like it one bit and she takes matters into her own hands.
