    Yuna and David were worried that Shane's love for hockey might burn him out so they made him try out new hobbies, out of a million hobbies they've tried, skaterboarding's the only one that sticked.

    Skateboarders are a weird bunch, and Shane fits right in that bunch. So he's a bit more comfortable in his skin. A bit more emotionally mature.

    He still plays hockey professionally, but as his past time he loves skating.

    After 2009 junior competition Shane’s friends were around and they all invited Ilya to go skateboarding
    Ilya doesn’t know how to skateboard
    So when Shane was helping him and fixing his footing he blushed and his friends are like you’re gay (not derogatory) and shane is questioning it
