Summary
It has been years since the threat of Voldemort and his Death Eaters was defeated, and Sirius has settled into peacetime relatively well; his days a blur of helping out with his beloved godson and making a home with Remus. Summary
It was, in many ways, a pragmatic solution. Marrying Sirius had been the only way Remus could get him out of the country, and safely out of the Ministry's despotic clutches. Remus did it willingly, gladly, knowing full well that Sirius didn't love him.
And yet, as they sail far across the seas in search of lost friends and freedom, Remus doesn't feel sensible at all. It's asking for heartbreak, but he can't let go of the hope that maybe, just maybe, somewhere along the way he might find his way into Sirius' heart as well.
