Summary
Two events take place on the same fatidic evening of June 1916.
One, Dream of the Endless goes into the Waking world searching for a wayward nightmare and ends up captured by a magic patrictioner called Roderick Burgess.
Two, Robert Gadling wakes up to a stake in his chest courtesy of the descendant of a certain Lady who once tried to kidnap him (and his Stranger too).
Both events prove life changing. -

Summary
After their meeting in 2022, Dream seems more willing to see Hob more often than before, which delights the immortal immensely. Finally, after so many years, his friend is starting to open up a bit - about his experiences, the missed meeting, his name and titles.
And Hob dreams of him as always, only this time, it's not just a dream, but the Dream. Dream, in his castle, with galaxies on his coat and a smile on his face.
or idiots go from friends to lovers through meetings, both in the waking world and the dreaming. there may be dancing involved, as well as pining

Summary
Hob has a forgettable encounter with a group of passing merchants during the Black Death.
Hob has a memorable encounter with two men when they rescue him from drowning during the Witch Trials.
Hundreds of years later, Hob meets the old guard in the midst of World War 1 and wonders how the fuck are they still alive.

Hob just got dumped.
It's fine, nothing that hasn't happened before, but it hurts. At least he has a good friend to help him through it. But his friend is struggling with his own shadows, and is counting on Hob to help him through it, too, even if he won't admit it.
Perhaps this is an opportunity. Perhaps they can finally learn how to be better friends for each other. And perhaps, if Hob just plays his cards right, he will even get to figure out who exactly his friend is.
