Summary
"THE PEDALS DOWN MY EYES ARE CLOSED..." Louis turned up the volume, enjoying his own impromptu personal karaoke session, head bobbing in time with the music.
His car rounded a sharp right hand bend merging onto a slightly straighter stretch of road, it was the last part of the cut through on the back lanes before he would eventually hit civilization in just a short few miles ahead. In the rear view mirror he suddenly caught sight of a bright set of white headlights blinking some distance behind.
or
Louis is innocently caught up in a car chase which leads to a bad crash, he heroically rescues a trapped Harry before his car explodes putting his own life in danger and badly burning his hands in the process.
Louis is arrested and accused of causing the accident, vilified in the media as a creepy stalker. Harry wakes up a few days later and feels guilty at Louis treatment. Louis can't use his hands so Harry offers to help him.

Louis stared after him, heart pounding slightly, then turned back to Harry. “Did you seriously just kick someone under the table?”
Harry stirred his coffee, unbothered. “Technically, it was more of a nudge.”
“You injured him.”
Harry finally met his eyes, cool and quiet. “He was flirting with what’s mine.”
His breath caught. Too much, too soon. He scrambled to cover the fluttering in his chest with a weak laugh.
“Yours for the project, you mean.”
Harry didn’t respond right away. Just lifted his cup again, mouth curling around a slow smile.
“Sure,” he said, soft and unreadable. “For the project.”

“You know,” Louis murmured, “this place never changes. Every time I come back, I still feel sixteen.”
Harry turned his head slightly, studying Louis in the golden spill of light from the villa windows. The years had sharpened his features, but the boy Harry remembered was still always there—in the curve of his smile, the way his lashes cast delicate shadows on his cheeks.
“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” Harry asked.
Louis hummed, considering. “Depends. When I was sixteen, I used to dream about kissing you right here on this terrace.” Harry’s breath caught. “I’d imagine coming home, walking from the fields with handfuls of flowers,” Louis continued, voice soft, “and you’d be waiting in the doorway, leaning against the frame, smiling at me like I was the best thing you’d seen all day. Then you’d meet me at the bottom of the stairs and kiss me like there was no tomorrow.” He cut himself off with a quiet laugh. “God, it’s embarrassing.”
Harry swallowed. “It’s not.”
Louis smiled faintly, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah. It was a sixteen years old boy’s fantasy. One that never came true.”
