Summary
In East Blue, the legend of soul lights is a well-known one: two souls, pulled apart by tides, given a light by the ocean to find each other again. The story lives in Luffy's memory, spoken in Makino's voice, just as it lives around him in the bright white glow of his brothers' hearts.
Until, one day, that light is gone. After that, Luffy decides he doesn't really care what kind of a soul the world has matched with his; he's going to choose for himself, because he can, and because he wants to.
Ten years later, the ocean waves guide him to a man with a spotted hat and tired eyes, and the world changes forever.

Summary
Law knew that was the only way to stay alive and well. He knew he didn't really have a choice, not when that clumsy giant was also in the equation. And it only got worse when he was sure that if he said a simple “no,” he would listen and leave, even if it put them at risk. Damn, he really didn't have a choice, did he?
Or, Luffy kidnaps a navy officer.

Summary
The Jikan Jikan no Mi was a fruit capable not of pushing someone through time, but of pushing time through a person. A person's future self is brought to the present and, afterwards, time snaps back to bring their younger self forward. When Luffy collapses at Marineford, its holder comes forward and offers to use her powers rather than let him have a second hormone injection from Iva. The power is not without its risks, but Luffy does not hesitate to accept. If he had a chance to be stronger—or to bring a stronger him in his place, even temporarily—then he would take it.
He would do anything to save Ace.

Summary
“When I was in Impel Down”, he starts again, quieter. “Bon Clay was there, with me. He– he helped me, when I got hurt, and when I escaped, too. He– he didn’t–”, and Zoro wonders, not for the first time, just how many people have sacrificed themselves to let Luffy live. How many people he has to thank, silently, for the gift of having his captain alive and well and holding his hands. Luffy takes a breath, and then another, and Zoro can’t help but think, he’s alive alive alive. “When he first showed up, he didn’t look like himself. He looked like you. And even if I knew you couldn’t be there, in that prison, I let myself believe it was really you – and for a moment, I thought everything would work out. Because everything works out when you’re there, you know? Even with that bear guy, it worked– but then he turned back, and I realized you couldn’t be there, and I was selfish and wanted you there, in that prison, with me.”
