Summary
It's Jim first year in the Academy, and it's his birthday. Leonard learns exactly what it's like to be Jim Kirk on Remembrance Day.
She smiled softly. “Go a little easy on him, Dr. McCoy. It must be hard to have the entire academy honoring your father’s death and knowing everyone’s eyes will be on you. Especially when it’s also your birthday.” She shook her head. “Talk about mental whiplash.”
Leonard looked at the empty doorway. He’d completely lost sight of the fact that Remembrance Day was also the day Jim had been born.
Why hadn’t Jim mentioned that Friday was his birthday?

Summary
A rescue mission gone terribly wrong. A critically injured Jim is trapped in a building planet side, cut off from Enterprise while a war rages outside. Can McCoy keep Jim alive until Enterprise arrives? Or will it be too late?
He’d never imagined that he would die like this. No, bleeding out, on a backwater planet, medical aid unavailable, hadn’t been in his top ten ways to go.
He’d been sure he’d die in the captain’s chair, like his father. History, they said, repeated itself. He’d been sure that meant he was destined to go down with his ship.

Summary
The Enterprise has been given a prestigious assignment: transport all the Federation Ambassadors to Babel to vote for the induction of New Vulcan. But what was intended to be a milk run, soon becomes a mission of life and death as Spock and Pike rush to find an assassin who has Captain Kirk in his sights.
Set shortly after the 2009 movie.
Jim's ship and crew were in danger. He needed to get to the bridge—
A sharp alarm sounded above him, scattering his thoughts.
Bones looked up at the monitor for a moment before returning his gaze to Jim. “I need you to settle down, Jim.”
But he couldn’t seem to stop his heart from racing and every time he took a breath, his chest exploded in pain.
She’d tried to kill him.

Summary
A much-needed shore leave for the crew of the Enterprise brings an unwelcome reunion for Kirk. Set between the 2009 Movie and Into Darkness.
Leonard frowned as Jim took a too-quick step sideways, dodging a pair of Andorians in deep discussion. Jim stumbled, nearly falling, and the subsequent fight to maintain his balance had Leonard quickly pushing off the corridor wall to lend assistance. Before he could reach Jim, however, the dazed look in his blue eyes cleared, and he recovered his balance. He continued across the passage, a cocky smile on his face.
Lingering dizziness and blurred vision were common side effects for survivors of a Gelstadt attack, the weapon named after the bastard who’d invented it. The device had long been banned by the Federation – and for good reason.
Jim’s cocky grin was still in place when he reached Leonard.
“It’s about damn time,” Leonard grumbled. “I thought Reis would never shut up.”
“What’s your hurry, Bones. We’ve got a 48-hour pass before we have to head back to Earth.”
“The crew has a 48-hour pass. You have a 4-hour pass. Of which, you’ve now burned through an hour and twenty minutes.”

Summary
Jim returns from a critical diplomatic mission with false memories of the events that transpired on Ceres V. But the truth that his mind has forgotten is written in devastating detail on his body. Can McCoy repair the damage and help him piece together what really happened? More importantly, can he help Jim work through the betrayal and find peace?
Hard hands, cold against his skin, captured his arm, held it outstretched in an unnatural position. The sharp bite of an instrument on the inside of his elbow… long, cold fingers spread across his ribs… something hard and cold suddenly pushing inside of him, agony following in its wake—
His lungs seized and every muscle and nerve within him fought against the ghostly sensations that refused to coalesce into comprehension. The fleeting impressions had begun to come out of nowhere, detached from specific memories, amorphous and untethered – and startlingly sharp and disturbing. Who had the hands belonged to?

Summary
After peace negotiations finally come to end, an exhausted and injured Kirk just wants to sleep.
Jim limped out of the transporter room. It took all his concentration to stay on his feet without wobbling, to keep from stumbling with exhaustion. It was only the pulsing pain in his right leg that kept him moderately alert. A shower, a shave, and some sleep were the only objectives on his mind.

Summary
Jim fights an unknown infection while on a rescue mission. But a captain is never off duty, and it's up to Bones to keep Jim immobile ... and keep the rest of the crew away.
After several days of IV antibiotics, the arm was finally looking less red and swollen, but that was cold comfort. Jim had been stuck in Sickbay for four days now, battling the stubborn infection that showed few signs of a quick resolution, while the landing parties were busy carrying out the desperate search and rescue sweeps – a mission he should have been leading.

Summary
Kirk has a much anticipated reunion. But it doesn't go the way he hoped.
The prisoner was waiting in Briefing Room 4, as Jim had ordered, having reluctantly surrendered to the security team after his ship had finally been caught in Enterprise’s tractor beam. The capture of the mercenary ship and its crew had been the culmination of a long and complicated chase over ten months across three quadrants. Each time Jim had gotten close, the man he had sought with single-minded determination had slipped through his fingers. The captain of the privateer had been a worthy adversary – cunning and relentless – and Jim had been continually one step behind him the entire the time, which was the fucking story of Jim’s life.

Summary
Part 3 of the Academy Series finds Kirk and McCoy in their third and final year at Starfleet Academy. As Kirk pushes himself to complete his courses and graduate early, he battles a medical review board, a visit from his mother and the 25th Remembrance Day Celebration. Kirk must find his place in Starfleet as the son of George Kirk. But can he make his own future without making peace with his past?
McCoy could hear the exhaustion in Jim’s voice, which was unusual because the kid seemed to thrive on pressure. But it was the despondent undertone to Jim’s responses that was unsettling and raising alarm bells. “Jim, what’s wrong? And don’t tell me nothing because I can see right through your bullshit.”
A heavy sigh gusted over the comm. There was another long pause before Jim spoke. “Pike wants me to give a speech at the Remembrance Day ceremony.”
Of course, Pike wanted to put George Kirk’s son on display this year. It was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Kelvin’s destruction. All eyes, not only of Starfleet, but the entire Federation, would be watching that spectacle.

Summary
Recovering from an injury that has forced Jim on bed rest, all he wants is some hands-on attention from Bones. And not the medical kind.
“His mast cell count and blood histamine levels are elevated. I think he’s having an allergic reaction to the pins, sir.”
McCoy stomach tightened as he read the chart.
“Goddamn it,” he said under his breath as the data confirmed Riley’s diagnosis.
“Do you want to try another material?” Riley asked. “Boneband sutures have had some success in cases like the captain’s.”
McCoy shook his head, his mouth tightening into a grim line. With Jim’s allergy-prone profile, introducing another material would be asking for trouble. “We’ll have to put him in traction.”

Summary
A continuation of Evenstar656 story "Gravitation". Jim isn't as well as he seems and McCoy's goes into over-protective drive.
“I want you to leave," Jim said.
“Fine,” McCoy agreed, his face stoic. He looked at Chapel. “Make sure he remains still and let me know when the scan is complete.”
McCoy left, and Jim closed his eyes, pushing his jumbled emotions deep and remembering the promise he’d made not more than 24-hours ago.“We’ll be fine, Bones.”
McCoy squeezed Jim’s hand, “I’m sure we will, kid.”
Well… maybe not so fine. In fact, far from fine.

Summary
Kirk struggles with the aftermath of Spock Prime's mind-meld on Delta Vega. Now, limping back home after the fall of the Narada, Kirk is plagued with nightmares and headaches.
“Go to sleep, Jim,” McCoy urged quietly.
He closed his eyes obediently but refused to yield to sleep. He knew what waited in the darkness. He could already feel the grief welling upward and he needed to keep it at bay, keep his mind occupied with something else. But lying next to Bones, he felt himself begin to instinctively relax, muscles releasing their tension. Bones’ clean smell and the solid feel of him was like a soothing drug, lulling him deeper into repose.
He didn’t mean to fall asleep, but the exhaustion born of the past few days overpowered him and dragged him down, down, down…

Summary
A compliment to The Parting Glass by Evenstar656. Kirk and McCoy try to move forward with their relationship, but the past keeps getting in the way.
McCoy felt his face flush with embarrassment but held his ground. “I can recommend someone you can talk with, someone experienced in dealing with PTSD issues.”
“What would I say? I told you, Bones, I don’t remember anything.”
McCoy slowly walked up to Jim. “Are you sure about that?” He reached to touch the scar, only to have Jim capture his hand in a bruising grip before his fingers could make contact.
“Bones,” he warned. -

When Enterprise is called away on an emergency, it leaves Kirk and McCoy and a small rescue crew behind. But soon it's Kirk who needs rescuing. Will Enterprise return in time or will the Outpost claim another victim?
“You were having a dream.” McCoy pulled the light sheet up to cover his chest then checked the IV that had been relocated to the inside of his elbow. “Lucky you didn’t rip this out.” His gaze settled on Kirk and his eyes seemed to look deep into him. “How are you feeling?”
“Unlucky.” His tongue was thick and too big for his mouth. Around him the world slowed and diffused into a foggy scape.

Summary
When Kirk's first landing party assignment turns anything but routine, he find himself injured and alone .. and in the middle of a planet's civil war. With Enterprise out of reach, it's up to Spock to keep Kirk alive. As help arrives, Kirk is left needing to solve a mystery and to find the last of his men now left behind.
Spock looked down at Kirk, whose face was an unhealthy white-gray, lips bloodless and slightly parted with faint, rapid breaths. It unsettled Spock to see the normally animated features become lax as the life-force within him waned. McCoy was right; they were running out of time. He estimated Kirk had little more than an hour or two before blood loss and shock would be irreversible.
“For Christ’s sake, Spock, make a decision,” McCoy commanded. “Jim’s dying.”

Summary
Kirk's mother comes to visit him while he's in a coma after Into Darkness.
“It’s okay to go in,” McCoy said gently.
She turned her head toward him. For an instant, he saw the raw, shattered expression he’d seen on too many mothers’ faces as they waited outside of surgery, waited for someone to tell them everything was going to be all right, that their child wasn’t going to die today. Then it was gone, replaced with a practiced and familiar stoic mask that reminded him of Jim.
