Summary
The facts were these: Kara Zor-El didn’t touch dead things, didn’t tell anyone why, and absolutely did not use her very unusual ability on anyone she actually cared about.
She breaks all three rules at Lena Luthor’s funeral.
OR
Kara could bring the dead back to life. For a minute. Or longer.

Summary
“Your mom?”
The question drew Lena’s attention back to the blonde woman, who was looking to Sam’s name with quirked eyebrow.
“My wife."
There it was, that look that always passed across people’s faces when they hear that her wife was dead. It should make her angry, it used to make her furious, but now it just made her feel tired.
And broken.
“Oh, sorry,” the woman replied softly, shifting a bit on her bench and looking back toward the headstone she’d been talking to. “Alex was my sister. I’m Kara.”
“I’m Lena,” she answered, feeling tight and twisted inside.

Summary
Rachel nods again, face settling into something akin to understanding, or maybe resolve. It terrifies Quinn. It terrifies Quinn because when Rachel sets her mind to something, it gets done. There is absolutely no standing in her way. She takes the most direct path, bulldozes over anything in her way, plows straight forward in broad daylight, and it intimidates Quinn to no avail.
She knows how silly it is that she’s taken aback by this small girl and her big personality, but it’s just that Quinn doesn’t know how anyone could possibly function as shamelessly as Rachel does. Quinn is a dying star, a supernova in motion, an exploding, fizzling-out disaster. Rachel is something a lot less doused in metaphor and something a lot closer than a lightyear or so away.
“All I want to say is that you’re a good person, Quinn."
or
When Rachel spins the bottle, it lands on Quinn.

She tucked her head down, covered her face daintily as if her happiness for the now wedded couple was so overwhelming she had to swallow it back in.

Summary
Alex Danvers saves lives for a living and ruins her own as a reflex. She's charming, brilliant, and gone before sunrise—a woman who has perfected the art of leaving. Everyone likes her. She makes sure of it. It's safer that way.
Dr. Lena Luthor is nobody's fool. She sees the performance behind the smile and wants nothing to do with it. To her, Alex is a reckless liability in a white coat. Their shared office becomes a battleground of friction and unspoken truths.
But hostility has a strange way of demanding proximity. Every argument reveals a crack. Every shared silence builds a bridge neither of them asked for. And the harder Lena looks, the more she realizes that Alex isn't heartless—she's just buried hers so deep, she's forgotten how to find it.Alex has spent a lifetime learning to disappear before anyone can ask her to stay. Lena has spent a lifetime perfecting the art of leaving first. Now they must decide whether the risk of being seen is worth more than the safety of running away.
