Summary
Six months in and the New Avengers had fallen into a routine with only a few bumps in the road. And being in charge of them isn't too hard. All things considered, Bucky thought being a leader wasn't so bad. The worst part was dealing with Valentina and keeping them from biting each other's heads off and trying to shrug off that exhaustion that just won't go away. But everything was fine, really. Nothing worth mentioning.

Joaquín paused when he saw the flicker of light reflect off something in the tall grass. It could have been another shell casing. But he had a feeling that it was not. He crouched down scanning around to make sure no one was around to attack him as he moved closer to it.
"Shit." He breathed, looking down at the bloody, discarded shield that lay in the grass. No way Sam would have willingly left it behind.
"What?" Kate demanded, and Joaquín nearly jumped out of his skin. He had forgotten about Kate and the comms.
"I found the shield. No sign of Sam."
Or Sam gets kidnapped, and Bucky make sure that everyone stupid enough to kidnap Sam pays the price.
