Summary
Roughly a year after the events of Inception, Dom is killed because he never gave up extraction. As godfather, Arthur is given custody of Phillipa and James. To protect them and keep them safe, he fakes his death and goes into hiding with them. Meanwhile, Eames is mourning Arthur and the chance they never really had together. When he tries to tie up Arthur’s loose ends for him, he realizes: Arthur's already done it. Arthur is alive and Eames sets out to find him.
Neither of them ever imagined themselves living a normal, domestic life, or being parents. In the end, Arthur and Eames both need to decide what they want out of life, and who they want it with.

Summary
Arthur had figured a system out. He'd learned to hide his coughs and clear his throat discretely, figured out which brands of cough suppressant worked best, learned to ignore the cloying floral taste that seemed to linger in the back of his throat no matter what he did. He'd learned not to work in August because August was when dahlias bloomed and that made hiding his symptoms harder than he wanted to put up with. It was fine. Not great, but fine. But then Ariadne reached out with a late summer job and Arthur knew she didn't have the connections to find another pointman if he said no. Besides, it would be a quick and easy job. He'd managed to hide his symptoms from Eames for almost four years- he could hide them for another month. Right?
In which Hanahaki disease is a chronic illness stemming from unspoken feelings, and Arthur is maybe a bit of an idiot.

Summary
"Pfft," Squid lies awake in bed later that night. "Don't be ridiculous, theres no way--" He shoots up and digs around for his clarinet, late time be damned. He pushes through a few minutes of nails against chalkboard but he doesn't seem to improve. "I'm just psyching myself out, yeah that's it, if I think about it too hard then of course I'll sound bad!" Sweat trickles down his face as he tries again and again.
It's nearly 5am when he finally gives up and looks at himself in the mirror. "Why are you still thinking about him." He seethes in frustration at himself.
He collapses back into bed and manages to catch two hours of not quite blissful sleep.

Summary
Everyone knows Arthur's a control freak, especially Eames. He is, after all, an expert in human nature. Which makes him an expert in Arthur.
Right?Excerpt:
...but then, Ariadne paused.
“Do you know how Arthur takes his coffee?”
For a moment, Eames was completely stunned, because the answer was no, he did not know how Arthur took his coffee. He had known Arthur for four years, had worked no less than twelve jobs together (four of them long cons), and he had absolutely no idea. He could recite Cobb’s order (cream only), Ariadne’s (raw sugar and a small dollop of cream, Yousef’s (simple syrup and extra cream), hell, he’d only see Saito drink coffee once and he could give Saito’s order (just one, full scoop of sugar, like he was indulging himself). But not Arthur’s.
He couldn’t even say for sure that Arthur preferred coffee. “Black,” he said definitively, because the Arthur Eames knew had to drink his coffee black, probably shade grown, small lot, dark roast, black coffee. But he didn’t know.

Eames pulled back slightly, giving Arthur a quick once over to look for obvious injuries. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I-I don’t think so.”
Eames nodded. Arthur’s eyes were wide and his breathing was rapid and uneven as he gripped the sleeves of Eames’ jacket with white knuckles. Eames couldn’t see any blood though and Arthur didn’t look overtly injured, so he was willing to take it. He could check in again later to make sure, but right now the first priority had to be getting Arthur into something warmer and drier. “Do you think you can walk alright?” Arthur nodded, taking a deep breath. “Okay, my pack’s just a little upstream. Let’s get back to it and get you into some dry clothes before you freeze half to death.”

“You haven’t even heard me out,” Eames said, sitting on the edge of his desk. He leaned over, as if to peer at what Arthur was doing that was taking up so much of his attention.
“I know that this idea is outrageously stupid, and the last time I listened to one of your ideas, someone shaved my head,” Arthur said flatly. He was still sort of pissed about the shaved head thing, even if he claimed he was over it. Growing hair took far longer than he ever thought.
Aka Arthur and Eames, long-term friends who have absolutely no time for romance in their lives, decide to pretend to be together for their respective family functions

After the job's done, Arthur agrees to help Eames get out of trouble in South Asia, but getting to Borneo is the easy part. Getting into the dreams of an enforcer of Red Pole status only known as the Arrow...a fair bit harder.
