Summary
When there was nothing to hold onto, not even one's family, was when a merperson turned, transformed, morphed, grotesquely, into a siren.
That was when they began craving the flesh and blood of prey far more intelligent than fish. Humans. Gods, but they were never that successful.
No mer wanted to admit that they were even tangentially related to the monsters.
It was irreconcilable with their sensibilities.
Yet, of course, sirens had no such sensibilities, having clawed their way out of hell, in which morality and qualms died a sad, painful, death.
Or: Siren!Ajax really really really wants to eat Zhongli. In the literal way. What he doesn't know is that Zhongli is completely fine with it.

Summary
“The full moon draws near…” Anaxa murmurs to himself as he looks up to the star-filled sky. The black cat responds with a meow from the side, getting up from its spot to bump its head against the back of Anaxa’s hand in what seems to be some form of an apology, and the gesture draws out a soft chuckle from the witch. “The preparations are almost complete, either way—something like this won’t be enough to hinder my plans. Unless something catastrophic happens to the potion that’s already done brewing, we will proceed as scheduled.”
“Meow.”
“Yes, Khaos, I’ll be careful, and you should be too. We wouldn’t want any accidents from occurring, would we?”
“Meoooow.”
“Exactly.”
An accident occurs at the peak of Anaxagoras' newest and biggest spell, and he is left with his cat familiar turned into an oversized man. Khaos struggles in his new body.

"How dull," Khaslana exclaimed. His voice was venomous, like a snake trapping its prey and toying with it before going for the kill. The flames surrounding them raged fiercer. "If you had the guts to defile my beloved's resting place, then you must be smart enough to know how this will end for you. Choose. Do you want to be burned alive or decapitated?" The trembling man didn't say anything. Khaslana squinted his eyes when he caught the other's eyes drifting to the marks on the back of his hand. "Don't even think of using a command spell. It is much faster for my fire to burn you to ashes than for your words to reach me."
"A-are you abandoning your wish to claim the Grail?"
"I'd rather do that than be ordered around by a pathetic cur. Now, choose."
The illusion of two choices was laughable. Choosing either meant an inevitable death sentence.
