“Do you actually have a place to live?”
Dennis has never been a good liar, and Jack Abbot’s unrelenting stare might as well be a polygraph test.
“I’m currently between places,” he admits.
Abbot works his jaw, head tilting to the side as he continues to assess Dennis like he’s a patient in his ED.
“Do you own a car?” He asks, his voice sounding softer to Dennis but maybe it's just dampened by the sound of his own pulse in his ears.
“Not at the moment, no, I’m actually-”
“Between cars?” Abbot finishes for him.
Shame pushes Dennis’s head down. “Yeah, something like that.”
Abbot continues to stare at him -does this guy ever blink?- before he sighs and shakes his head.
"Alright, pack your shit," He orders, clearly having heard enough.

“You walk out of that door and we’re done. We’re nothing.” Robby threatens as Dennis is about to push the glass doors open, the privacy curtain open for everyone to see now.
Dennis is a doctor now and with that comes the knowledge that this is the right thing to do. Robby needs help. Professional help.
“We’re nothing either way, Michael.” Dennis ignores the way his voice cracks around itself, “I’d rather lose you and have you alive.”

Summary
Dennis Whitaker is your typical, twenty six year old med student from Nebraska trying to make it in a new city with no connections, and no home.
However, that’s not who he actually is. Vladimir Dracula, now in his early thirties, is a struggling Chosen One turned med student trying to outrun his past. As he takes on his first shift in the emergency department, he will be put through trials he’s never been through. One’s not as fantastical as they were in his childhood, but definitely just as life altering.
A fellow med student who’s connected to the slayers guild, an intern whose attitude could rival Ingrid’s, and an attending who makes his undead heart flutter, what could go wrong?

Faking an accent was still easier than faking a whole entire personality, though. Dennis Whitaker was soft spoken, anxious all the time, he made himself look small. Vladimir Dracula, on the other hand? The last time he made himself look small was when he was a twelve year old kid.
OR: Dennis Whitaker is a vampire, and his real name is Vladimir Dracula. He's moved from the UK, became a doctor and now works at PTMC. Everything is just fine, no one suspects a thing. But of course it all goes to shit, because of one small trick and his roommate walking into his room when she shouldn't. Oh, and apparently most of his coworkers are werewolves. Awesome.
