"Maedhros, forgive me for saying it plainly: if you bound yourself to him just to bind him to this battle, then it was not well done. It was not—" the frown failed, and Maglor just looked embarrassed now, for sincerity did not suit him, "—not kind."

"I did no such thing," Maedhros said.

    "But you did marry him."

"Not for this battle," Maedhros said. He smiled to himself. This memory had never been a good one before. "We have been wed these four hundred years."

    Summary

Even back in Aman, many had deemed Fëanáro's twins unnatural and disconcerting.

Not Aracáno. By some quaint grace, he had noticed what all others appeared to miss. Ambarussa are— is— a single being. And now, despite the rifts of Losgar's treachery, Aracáno yearns to meet his childhood's strangest playmate once again: the mustelid-smiling, sharp-gazed, two-bodied man. Who knows, maybe even marry him.

Near-death right after landing on Beleriand makes one braver, it would seem.

    Summary

“Would you have us move too soon?” Maedhros asked. “I forget to whom I speak; of course you would! But I tell you what I told the king: that we have yet to build up our herds, yet to prepare for true siege, yet to come to our full strength; nor to train up the Sindar and Nandor who have sworn to serve us. What we might lose by ill-timed action we cannot replace. No one is coming to help us — neither west from the sea nor east from over the mountains. There is nothing and no one now but us.”

    Summary

There were many empty rooms in Rivendell. But there were many guests, too, Elves who had arrived in order to cross the sea in the same great convoy as Elrond himself. They were waiting for the last to arrive, and then they would depart, streaming across the wilds and plains of Eriador, over the Ered Luin, down into Lindon. With them would go history, wisdom, learning and memory: beauty and song. And it would not come back.

Among this throng, Maglor passed, perhaps, as a wild Elf, who had come in from the wilderness to make that journey with them.

    -

At the end of the Third Age, Maglor finds his way to Rivendell, and must decide whether or not to sail West with Elrond.
