Summary
Jeremy's number is 11.
But in reality it's simply two ones.
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two lonely numbers pressed together like they're trying to keep each other company, shoulder to shoulder on the back of his jersey, a matched set of solitude.
One and One. Basically Two.

A little meta-analysis on how this song may fit Jeremy's life in more than one way. Inspired by "One" by Three Dog Night

Jeremy waggled the glass slightly, the pale green shake sloshing dangerously. "Come on. One sip. Live a little." His smile warm and ridiculous and entirely Jeremy. "I'm your partner. Are you really going to turn this down? Refuse your captain's very reasonable, very delicious—"

Summary
Jeremy Knox has been tired since summer. Or maybe even since spring. He's not sure. He's also not sure why. Everyone else seems to have an explanation.
OR:
"You've seemed run-down." She went to the fridge to pull out a water bottle. "Are you eating enough?"
"Yes." He was, mostly. He was doing his best.
Her piercing eyes gave Jeremy another once over. "I'd like you to come to the clinic for a check-up before the semester starts. Just routine."
"The team does physicals in September."
"I'd like you to come in for some tests."
He knew what that meant. He looked at his drink. "Mom. I'm clean."
"I know," she said, but the tone meant something else: I know what you've told me, but I'd like some proof.

Summary
Ten years after graduation, Aaron works as an emergency doctor in Charleston while his twin Andrew has gone pro, living with his partner Neil in Columbia. Beyond occasional texts, they haven't managed to get any closer than they were in college.
A routine 24-hour Saturday shift becomes anything but when a John Doe with severe head trauma arrives. As Aaron fights to save him, too many details align, reminding him of a certain number 10 striker he once knew.OR
"Aaron." Andrew's sharp voice forced him to focus. "What are you doing here?"
Aaron turned to face his brother. Tried to find words.
Andrew's eyes narrowed at the lack of response. "Where's Neil?"The question hit like a physical blow. "What?"
"Neil." Andrew's hands clenched into fists. "He's in Charleston for some media thing with his team. You work in Charleston. You're still wearing your badge." His breathing started to shallow. "It's 6:30 in the morning. We don't do surprise visits, hell we don't even do any visits. Yet you felt the need to drive two hours to see me at dawn, right after your shift. So I'll ask one more time. Where is Neil?"

Summary
While Jeremy's team is at the fall banquet the sunshine captain is stuck at his family's home. He spirals until a phone call gives him a reason.
OR:
Jeremy Knox, the sun. Always shining. Always warm. Always there for everyone else.
The thing about the sun, though, is that it burns alone.
My take on If I cannot be wanted, I will be needed. And if I cannot be needed, let me be used until there's nothing left of me.
But what happens when he's given everything and it's still doesn’t feel like enough? When being used is the only thing keeping him alive, and he's not sure he wants to be alive anymore?
