Just that morning, they had been a chaotic, breathless tangle of limbs and twisted bedsheets, the lingering heat of the previous night rendering the cold world outside completely irrelevant. Now, the only heat between them was the friction of a deadly struggle, and the only thing pressing into Stiles’s skin was Derek's claws around his neck and Stiles's gun pressed against Derek's hip.

    Deaton turned to him, offering a private smile before inclining his head slightly. “Very comforting, Scott, thank you. But,” he looked between them, “I’m not the Emissary they’re coming after.”
