Summary
To his absolute horror, the deadbolt on the kitchen door turns on its own. Peter watches in slow motion as the door creeps open and a figure appears on the other side, decked out in a trench coat and fedora like some sort of private detective.
Peter’s father steps through the threshold.
Peter’s standing there like an idiot with sticky fingers, brandishing a steak knife at him.
Peter’s father—Erik—notices this and stares at him, shocked. Peter is glad at this moment to have one-upped the man, but that’s quickly overridden by the emotional weight of the fact that his dad is standing right there, not ten feet from him. And Peter’s kinda threatening him with a weapon. A metal one. His dad, the terrorist, the guy who can move metal. Metal that belongs to the knife. The knife which Peter holds. Iron in the air, blood in his mouth (maybe for real this time).
Peter drops the knife as if it were burning him, and it clatters to the ground.

Rising anti-Mutant sentiments—especially in the D.C. area—have made Peter’s mother decide that sending him away would be the safest thing for him, especially considering his involvement in breaking Magneto out of prison.

Summary
It’s been two days since twins Mabel, and Dipper Pines had arrived in Gravity Falls. Mabel had already made friends with her uncles, the overly hairy mail man, and sixteen tourists. Dipper on the other hand was…not having the best time adapting. He felt watched walking around every corner. Not to mention his “caregivers” for the summer weren’t exactly conventional. One stayed in his office for the entire day. The other spent his time hustling scams, and selling tacky clutter. The third…well words couldn’t really describe him, Dipper just tried to avoid him at every moment.
It was looking like the next three months were gonna be nothing but chores, and mosquito bites.
However, the twins worlds were turned upside down after a mysterious journal fell into their hands. Or really, found in a hidden hatch in the middle of the woods-but that’s beside the point. Now with this journal. An author who seems to be living a bit too close to home, and an entire town ready to be explored, summer began to seem a lot less boring. But when adventure arrives, so does danger. The more the twins begin to stuff their noses into the hidden underbelly of the town, they soon realise no-one can be trusted. Not even famiy.

“What was it like when you lived here?” Mabel asked, gesturing at the Shack.
Ford let out a gentle chuckle. “Very different, I assure you. If these walls could talk, I'm sure they would tell some stories.”
Oh, if only he knew.

(or: the Mystery Shack has many secrets, and just as many memories. Afterall, a lot can happen over four decades within the space of four walls.)
