There wasn’t necessarily a bad choice to make among the rest of the ghouls. V liked them all enough. But that was the problem. If he’d wanted to just make a choice and get it done, he could’ve picked any of the ghouls.
But that wasn’t what he wanted. He knew the importance of what he had to give, and he wanted it to be special. It needed to mean something, and that’s why it couldn’t be a random groupie. That’s why he had to take care of it now, before the goth girls got just pretty enough to make him fold.
The choice was obvious. Even if he pretended he needed to deliberate, deep down he’d known the whole time who he would be approaching.

Summary
It was one of these afternoons that Dew slipped away into the cavern, carrying his towel on his shoulder as he descended into the earth. He stepped into the silent cavern, lighting the lanterns around the chamber with a flick of his wrist. Once he dropped his towel by the water’s edge, he tugged his clothes off, groaning at the ache in his joints. Only when he was free from his entire uniform did he step down into the water, steam immediately rising from the water around him as he let out a breath at the freezing temperatures.
Silently, he sank down into the water until his shoulders were submerged, leaning his head back as he closed his eyes. The tension in his limbs slowly melted away as the water around him rose to match his high, infernal temperatures, turning the cold spring water around him into a hot spring.
This was Dew Time, something the fire ghoul held sacred. Just a time for him to relax, soothe the constant ache in his limbs, and enjoy the quiet.
That was until he heard the sound of footsteps echoing from the corridor.

Ghouls, in their near-immortal lives, never stop growing. They’ll develop normally until they reach adulthood, then continue to grow very slowly for the rest of their lives, gaining a couple inches every decade or so. A Ghoul of Aether’s height would be in their early-to-mid 200’s, Aurora much younger at around 60, Mountain was the oldest at well over 500, probably nearer to 600 but he lost count long ago.
Ghoul’s always kept growing, unless you were a runt, that is.Or,
Dew is a runt but the pack don’t know that, and Swiss is a never misses an opportunity to make fun of the Fire Ghoul’s short stature.

"I-I didn't—" Dew tried to get out through the tears but found himself choking, throat tight. He honestly could have hoped to suffocate and die then and there. "I couldn't stop it!" He babbled pointlessly, there was no explaining this away. There was no hiding from what he'd done.
"Did that feel…good?" It was hard to discern his tone, harder to gauge his reaction. The last thing Dew wanted was to turn his face and look. He couldn't stomach seeing disgust or disdain on his mate's face.
