She says nothing. Squeezes Chip's hand and then Gillion's.
Together they watch the spell start to dissipate.

Ollie's return startled Jay enough that Chip could slip past her, finally able to look for their missing counterpart.
Gone. Was the answer. Just.
Gone.
Again.
Admittedly, down through a hole by the looks of it this time. But there was no mop of green hair spread across the surface to let Chip know Gillion had survived the fall and was cheerfully swimming his way back to them.
Not even the ripples of their impact remained far, far, far below.

She's dozing, gazing up at the occasional star peeking through the dark night-time clouds above, when Astarion steps over her and stays there, just looking down at her. The moonlight is near vanished tonight but the firelight catches in his hair and warms his pale skin.
"I died?" She asks tentatively.
"You didn't die this time."
'This time' bounces round her skull on repeat as he takes the time she gives freely for him to put together his words.
"We were camping outside the city, in the...dream. I left you by the fire, we'd just- I knew we'd just...Hells, why is this so hard?"

Astarion doesn't necessarily sleep but that doesn't mean he rests easy. Sometimes the mind goes to the worst case scenario and only their voice, their touch, their care is comfort enough.

"I haven't lied to you," she repeats, knocked off balance by just how bad she has let it get, just how much she has hurt him, and, because she can barely find the courage to look at him with the guilt on her shoulders, she falls back on cursed old habits. "Astarion, my love, I have been busy, too busy, and I am sorry about that but can't we just-"
"Busy? Busy? With what, Tav? What could there possibly be left to do? What is more important than even just saying a gods damned cordial hello in passing? You know Gale came by trying to find you earlier?"

"He's here, Tav, see? He's here. You need to breathe for me, your lungs can't take this for much longer. You are going to knock yourself out."
Elizia looks a mess. Her babbling is worse still.
A complete and utter bedraggled mess. Cheeks stained with tears, eyes manic yet unblinking as she darts her gaze over Astarion over and over again. The loose night braids he put in earlier are sleep mussed and he can only hope she hasn't been scratching at her scars again. Shadowheart isn't restraining her wrists so he tentatively guesses not. She is clutching at her stomach though, like she's in physical pain, which she likely is. Her chest is delicate nowadays, the exertion of the panic she's drowning herself in cannot be helping.
"Snap out of it, spawn," Shadowheart hisses, not unkindly.
"Right. Sorry. Yes."

Summary
Briefly, Dean wants to scream because he knows the difference between a moat and a levy, he knows why he wants the rice, and he knows that Sammy will never understand because that’s why he did everything he did, dammit, so that Sammy wouldn’t want to hoard rice. But it’s easier, safer to let Sammy think that there’s nothing serious or weak about him. He's worked too long and too hard at molding this rendition of himself to give it up now. To reabsorb the girlish tendencies he’s been purging out of the shell he occupies.

It’s a long and torturous minute while Cas reacts silently to what Dean says, weighing his words. Dean begins to panic, thinking maybe this is it. This is the moment Cas walks away.
The angel speaks confidently. “I want him to love children, Dean. I want him to be clever, and to never underestimate another person. I want him to love family, and be brave, and stubborn enough to invent free will. I want him to know every lyric to every Led Zeppelin song and I want him to care enough that he knows everyone he loves’ favorite meal.”
Cas’s eyes well up, and the deep breath he takes is so human it makes Dean ache. “I don’t want him to scream himself awake from nightmares every night. I don’t want him to throw up from panic attacks once a month. I don’t want him to have reason to be afraid of someone he loves. I don’t want him to be forty-two before he accepts love. I wanted better than that for you, and I want better than that for him.”

Summary
Cas’s mouth drops open. Motionless like a statue he stays right there where he is, his hand still reaching out in Dean’s direction, eyes jumping between Dean’s face and the silver ring. When he doesn’t say something, Dean clears his throat. He had prepared a speech for this, he knows he did, but the only thing he’s saying is:
“Yeah. Consider yourself married now.”
Not a question. Not a proposal. Just cold, hard facts.
