Summary
Grace and Rocky are on their way to Erid when they encounter a strange terrestrial vessel that has somehow made its way to space. The single occupant is alive and Grace and Rocky rescue him, but they are then faced with the challenge of gaining this stranger's trust and dealing with the contamination he brought with him.
*slaps roof of fic* This bad boy can fit so many near-death experiences in it! But also friendship! And fucking (eventually)!

"What do you WANT?"
“I just want you to live!” Grace threw up his hands in exasperation “Is that so wrong? Is that so hard to believe?!—” he lowered his hands and quieted his voice. It took enormous effort. “I just want you to stay alive, and I need you to just sit still so you don’t die.”
The man’s expression dissolved from roiling rage to bafflement. There was something else too though. Grace could see cogs spinning behind the man’s eyes. Something about that answer had stuck.

Simon wakes up on planet Erid and is immediately infatuated (albeit confused) by the generosity and unbridled hospitality and warmth from Grace (and of course, Rocky). As Simon heals from his wounds (physical and otherwise), the two realise they have a lot more in common than they originally thought.

“I failed to explain to Rocky that humans need something called privacy. He’s not exactly the best at giving me that. So tonight, we only have one bed.”
Simon’s shoulders relax immediately. That’s it? He thought he was getting shipped off the damn planet and sent back to the COI, for fucks sake. A bed, or lack thereof, was nothing.
Ryland continues to explain.“The Eridians are big co-sleepers. They do this thing where they watch each other, for protection and stuff. I had to tell him that for humans, that’s um, kind of creepy, in most cases.”
“That’s fine. I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“What? No, no no. You just survived the most terrifying death trap known to man. Giving you the bed is the least I can do.”
Simon raises a suspicious eyebrow. “What’s the catch?”

Grace meets a new human, and Rocky neglects to build an extra bed.
