Backing away I go outside hoping I still had some time to make my getaway.
When I reach the frown lawn a loud revving from a motorcycle comes from the distance as it rounds the driveway, RV and station wagon in tow. “You’ve got to be kidding me” I say.
Watching as everyone made their way outside to see the commotion. As the cars get closer I recognize a face of one amongst them.
They halt to a stop in front of us as I yell “I know that ain't Daryl Dixon”
“Yea, who's asking?” he says looking around the crowd, trying to find the source but I'm already barreling towards him.

Summary
I’m a huge fan of The Walking Dead. To be honest, I was getting a bit tired of reading about extremely strong, "perfect" female characters, so I decided to imagine a common person dropped into the TWD universe.
This work is deeply psychological; I wanted to explore a different perspective and create a long, meaningful character arc. It’s going to be a very long ride, so... buckle up!
The events follow those of the TV series, and I’ve tried to keep it as "canon" as possible (though there will be major changes later on). Everything is told from this new viewpoint. I hope you like it! English is not my native language, so I apologize if you run into any errors or strange sentence structures, I primarily think in Italian and then translate it.

Daryl was pretty sure he hated her when she saved him from dying. He was even more sure he hated her when Rick wanted her to stay on the farm. But when he started getting to know her, he realized with absolute certainty that what he felt wasn't hate. It was something far worse than that.
