Summary
Wei Wuxian had never been good at keeping track of his heats, even though he'd been dealing with them for years. But he and Jiang Cheng had been in Wen territory for weeks now, and after accidentally leading a coup against Wen Chao and being left behind in a cave with Lan Wangji and the terrifying demi-xuanwu, the last thing Wei Wuxian expected was for his heat to sneak up on him now. (basically, an omegaverse au where poor omega Wei Wuxian goes into heat while he and an alpha Lan Wangji are waiting for rescue in the cave.)

“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji says. His heart is racing. “Wei Ying, look at me.”
Wei Ying pauses at the door and closes his eyes, so Lan Wangji gets out of bed, walks up to him, turns him around and pins him against the door.
“Wei Ying,” he says again. “How do I feel about you?”
Wei Ying opens his eyes, and his gaze turns from sad to hopeful as he takes in Lan Wangji’s ragged breath, his parted lips, the flush to his ears, the look in his eyes.
“How,” Lan Wangji says again.
(Or five times Wei Ying stayed over at Lan Zhan’s, and one time he just stayed.)

“Do we...” Wei Ying looked around to see if anyone was nearby, then lowered his voice anyway and leaned in to whisper: “Do we have sex?”
Lan Zhan let out a small huff of a laugh in response, as Wei Ying’s face flooded with color at the squirmy feeling even asking the question brought up in him.
“Yes,” Lan Zhan replied, once he had gotten over his initial reaction. He maintained steady eye contact. “We do.”
