    ⭐ 10/10

This fic is really special to me. I absolutely adored the format — it gave the story such a unique rhythm, and every part flowed seamlessly into the next. Watching the evolution of their childhood friendship felt incredibly natural and believable, and the pacing was honestly perfect. Every stage of their relationship had room to breathe, which made the emotional moments land even harder.

I genuinely cried during the chapters where Ilya lost his mom and everything that followed with his family. Those scenes were written with so much care and raw emotion that I just wanted to wrap Ilya up in a little cocoon of love and protect him from the world. His grief and the strain in his family relationships felt painfully real.

I also loved the way the conflict was woven into the story. Nothing felt forced or overly dramatic — it emerged so naturally from the characters and their circumstances, which made everything feel even more immersive and impactful. And finally, the formatting was just insane in the best possible way. It elevated the entire reading experience and made an already incredible story feel even more unique and memorable.

    ⭐ 10/10

This might just be my favorite Game Changers AU I have ever read. There is something special and fragile about it that makes me want to cradle it and tuck it into a little protective cocoon of love and admiration.

It is beautifully written. The way the scenes are set and the characters’ thoughts are shared made me emotional as I read. The writing filled me with a sense of longing while also leaving me hopeful and optimistic.

I absolutely adore Shane and Ilya’s characters and their relationship. It is incredibly romantic, and they are so, so, so completely honest with each other and their desires. It was a pleasure to read from start to finish.

Lastly, chapter 3 of part 2 deserves a shrine of its own. I am in complete awe and adoration of how it is written.

Sometimes life came at you with a clenched fist and Ilya had never figured out how to duck.

So here he was, twenty-eight years old, single, dealing with the fallout from injuries given to him by the game he loved, and the second youngest assistant coach in the league to one of the worst teams. Stability was hard to come by, but he was managing.

Then along came Shane Hollander to knock him on his ass, one more time.

    ⭐ 10/10

This made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It’s incredibly well written, and the slow burn is paced beautifully. I really felt the longing from both Shane and Ilya in different ways, and it was so compelling. I love how deeply in love they still are with each other. Shane putting everything on the line for Ilya was incredibly romantic.

I absolutely adored how Weibe brought in Ilya and then Ilya Ryan. I also loved how the team truly feels like a found family here. They’re so understanding and genuinely funny.

I especially loved the chapter with the different points of view. I feel like that’s where the story really took off after all the slow burn buildup.

Honestly, there’s nothing I dislike about this. It feels like a warm hug, and I loved it.

    Summary

The Swiss National League doesn’t care about the legendary Hollander-Rozanov rivalry. When the MLH can’t negotiate with the Hockey Players’ Union in time to prevent a hockey lockout at the start of the 2015 season, the Zürich Lions jump at the chance to sign both Shane and Ilya to short-term contracts. For four months in Switzerland, they share a team, a line, a house, and a bed.

Then the lockout ends in January, and it’s time to go back. Back to different countries, cities, lives. Beds.

    Reentry is harder than expected.

    ⭐ 10/10

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to get emotional damage from a fanfiction? Well, I’m here to confirm that YOU ABESOUTELY CAN.

I’d seen so many people talk about this fic online that I just had to read it for myself—and wow, I was not disappointed. This is written so beautifully. I especially loved the way the flashbacks were woven into the present timeline; it felt incredibly natural and added so much emotional depth to the story.

The yearning between them was palpable through their actions alone, which I loved—even with Ilya, when we didn’t have his POV, you could still feel everything he wasn’t saying. The writing was so good that I genuinely didn’t even notice there was no smut until much later.

I also loved how they carried little fragments of their life in Zurich with them back into their respective appartements. Those small details made everything feel even more real and bittersweet. Honestly, there’s nothing about this fic that I didn’t love.

Also, if I ever see a yellow kitchen in real life, I will definitely start crying.

    ⭐ 10/10

I’m honestly a little speechless about this fic. From the tags I was expecting porn with a bit of plot, but wow—it was so much more than that. The scientific language in the first chapter worried me a little at first, but it ended up fitting so naturally into the story that it never felt overwhelming. I loved how the fic kept me on edge right until the very end—my heart rate was genuinely elevated through most of it, both from the tension and the smut. Thank goodness for the happy ending tag, because for a moment there I was seriously worried.

One of my favorite aspects was the way Shane and Ilya’s relationship developed over the course of the story. The sense of impending death pushing them to confess their deepest thoughts to each other made everything feel so intense and intimate. The scientific context only added to that intensity without ever taking over the narrative.

And honestly, one of the funniest parts to me is just how incredibly horny Shane is for Ilya even while they’re in a literal life-or-death situation. Like… please, Shane, maybe focus for a second.
