“… Is that the reason you have such a… strange hobby?” That explained another part of Naruhodo's treatment of his Daruma. Kazuma put his chin beneath his hand. He was… strange, but Kazuma expected that from him. At first, he suspected the reason behind Naruhodo’s penchant for those was because they amused him, or perhaps that he had nothing else to do whenever he didn’t have a book or a snack.
“N-no! Why would it be?” Naruhodo sat up. “… But I suppose it was useful whenever my mum restricted me from eating before bedtime. It kept… I don’t know… my mouth busy without me chewing on anything?”
“… Your mouth busy.” Now Kazuma was just repeating parts of Naruhodo’s sentences, mind drifting elsewhere as he stopped to consider the fact — where exactly his thoughts were going, he wasn’t sure yet, but he knew he wasn’t paying full attention to Naruhodo.

After a conversation, Kazuma's imagination goes elsewhere and Naruhodo is cursed once more by the wardrobe.

The street lamps were turning on by the time they walked home. As Oscar pondered on dragging Alex to a restaurant, led by his current mood, Alex spoke. “Perhaps I shall get you a furry companion as well to make things even.”
Oscar regarded him. “Charles can do just fine.”
“Young Charley won’t be in Ashgrove all the time.”
The moniker was quick. “… Your letters will do.”
Alex smiled. “Will they?”
“We’re used to waiting, Alex,” Oscar said.

Contrary to Oscar's perception, Alex remembers quite well. And because he wanted a dog, a dog they shall get.

Summary
He flipped through to where the composition ended, then paused. Above the music staff where the piece ended, he had written ‘Change to quatre mains.’ Regardless of Alex’s provocation, Oscar, with a new wrap of bandaid around his hand, had returned to write this. He had done so in the quiet hours of the night, when he was sure that he wouldn’t have to explain himself to anyone — let alone Alex. After he had written what he needed to, he turned the book to a blank page, as if to convince others that nothing of note had happened. On the way back to his bedroom, he wondered if it was possible to take what he and Alex did and make the piece whole, regardless of the other’s participance. If he tried, perhaps.
But for seven years, the piece’s potential remained untouched.

There was another weight that sunk the mattress, creaking the bedframe beneath. Warmth cupped Oscar’s face — he heard his own breath hitch. What he braced for was the silk impersonality of gloves, but it didn’t matter now that those hands were wrapping around his head, untying the knot of void’s fabric and pulling down the sole barrier Oscar had. When the world returned to Oscar, it was Alex’s face he blinked into clarity, mirthless and coloured by a dying flame. Then, he met his gaze and it was as if Oscar never had a glimpse into what laid past his veneer.
Alex smiled. “Good evening, Edenic.”
Who else should he expect?

Sodom had deformed Oscar, and there was something ridiculous in him fooling himself that where he fell was the lowest level he could land from where Alex had pushed him. Then there was Alex and an unknown, urging him to do worse. Because this was what he wanted, no?

Then again, this religious veil wrapped around Norfolk never seemed to fully conceal him. While some may speak of their true beliefs privately, he wasn’t the type to do so — let alone admit that the gazes upon his wall held more weight than the ones above because then, they were tangible, found in the very architecture in the estate he called home. When people spoke of fearing the divine, he would often furrow his brow, yet nod along to appease them, for he couldn’t fathom how someone so far removed from you could incite such emotion. In truth, though, he was aware of the sense — even understood these believers more than he thought. Because simply by remaining on the wall, they, in turn, knew him.
