“Asmodeus is dead.”
Both Sam and Dean jumped at Castiel’s sudden appearance in the car. He thanked his lucky stars that Dean was used to Castiel popping in enough that he’d stopped losing control of the car half the time.
“Jesus,” Dean said. “I’m never gonna get used to that.”
“What do you mean, Asmodeus is dead?” Sam asked, turning in his seat to look back at the angel, immediately freezing at the sight before him. “Holy shit.”
“Holy shit what? What happened?”
“By “Asmodeus is dead”, I mean that Asmodeus has been killed,” Castiel said plainly, conveniently ignoring Dean’s question. Sam couldn’t blame him, who would want to tell their lover that the guy who killed him a hundred times is not only alive, but lying half-dead in their backseat?

Summary
A full Sabriel rewrite of the show, beginning in Sam’s first year of college. Involves a lot of angst with tender moments to come.
“Kid…what the hell are you doing in my basement?”
Sam opened one lazy eye, blinking sleep from his recently closed lashes. Inhaling deeply, he stretched and yawned loudly before turning to address the intruder. Based on the ring of keys in his right hand and the mop held defensively in his left, he was the Crawford Hall janitor. After all, that was the building he was hiding out in.
“Well, would you believe me if I told you I was just a student who couldn’t afford housing?” Sam said, voice rough from what had been more of a nap than actual human sleep. He’d fallen asleep around 1 a.m., and the clock above the janitor now barely sometime past 3 a.m. “‘Cause that’s pretty much it.”

Summary
My fix for 5X19 and covering through the season finale. Castiel was chosen to raise the righteous man from perdition on the basis on one thing alone. He is a creature of the air, designed for flight above all else, and when Dean takes that from him the grief is crushing. Gabriel opens Dean's eyes to all that Castiel has given on his behalf, but it may be too late to make a difference. With the end of the world bearing down, sacrifices must be made, and now, as always, it is given to the soldiers to carry the cost.
