They were quiet on the drive in, Pearl humming along with the songs on the radio while Joel stared out the window and tried to remember why he’d agreed to working in a cafe in the first place. He loved the job normally, the whole thing was made even better by working with some of his closest friends, but he’d never managed to get used to, or even make peace with, the early mornings. He might not be on Bdubs’ level, but he still wasn’t a fan of waking up. Not that he would ever say that out loud. It's not a huge world for I made it for a one shot and decided to write a sequel (I may write more in the future, but I don't currently plan to), but they live in a world where people are Blessed by the gods. The Blessings can often feel like curses, like Shelby's is. That's the premise :D
