Read through chapter 12.
Author note chapter 10 b/c it's greatly amusing and doesn't seem to actually be spoilers. [Everyone should know that Scrivenger_Grimgar said on Chapter 5:
"you got me thinking about how tobirama's name would be spelled, and,,,,, its just downrighht funny at this point, because chinese names tend to be spelled with 1-3 hanzi, with each generally having only one syllable, sometimes two. but. tobi's name is four syllables. not to mention,,, 'ra' isn't really a phoneme?? in chinese???? the best i can find for an equivalent would be 'la, le,' or 're.' reguardless, that would mean that tobi's mother just went "fuck it we ball" and game tobi a name that is four characters long which like??????? BRO?? girl got that mad name game, but even beyond that, the meaning his name would have just makes it even funnier????? the best i can get his name to be phonetically accurate is 'toubilama,' with the characters 投 (tóu, "to throw oneself into/to trust in the hand of"), 壁 (bì, "wall"), 剌 (là, "unreasonable/absurd"), and 溤 (mǎ, the name of a river), so his long ass name (tóubìlàmǎ, 投壁剌溤) literally means "to stop one from throwing themself into the river for no reason," and the shorted version of his name (tóubìlà, 投壁剌) would mean "to stop you from being unreasonable". "And I think that that is beautiful. Now I have this great headcanon about Tobirama's mom in this world, a woman so FEED UP with Lan shit she names her kid this so that his dad won't jump in a river out of some clan shame when he finds out. A woman so pissed off that she gave her kid the longest strangest name in the world just to FUCK with the Lan's and her son who took it and went "Yeah, ok, that fits, honestly that makes more sense really lets go with that" and takes to his nickname with abandon.
And THEN they added this: "i was gonna keep going on my naming rant, but madara's name was surprisingly easy to "translate". with the characters 玛 (mǎ, "agate/carnelian"), 龖 (dá, "the view of a dragon in flight"), and 热 (rè, "to warm up/heat/fervent"), coming together to be 玛龖热 Mǎdárè, meaning "fervent red dragon in flight"."
So the universe works in strange ways that make Madara's name make MORE sense in mandarin.]
