Summary
Torse contemplates beauty, stillness, and how the act of holding something like it is precious makes it so.
-----------
He knows he was not meant for marvels such as these, and he cannot risk endangering this cradle of new life and ever-spinning cycles for the sake of clutching it in clawed, clumsy, indelicate fists. It is not his place, and so he will hold vigil at the edges with Little One and watch how his companions sparkle in joy. Near their company, at least, his unbelonging barely hurts. It’s strange that Maxwell doesn’t move from his side. Instead he lowers himself onto harsh rock and tucks his chin onto one knee. Torse doesn’t quite understand what makes Max stay, when his friend must surely be enticed into exploration by the scenery, until he follows Maxwell’s gaze.
Max is looking up, beyond the bioluminescence and into cloudless night, eyes darting around until they steady, dilating, and his intent expression melts into awe. Like he was searching for and finally found… Oh.
Torse hadn’t realized they were so far vex.

Summary
Torse was strong, direct, and literally had a heart of gold. Max knew as soon as they formalized their friendship that he wanted more. He hadn’t known it was possible to fall for an automaton, but perhaps Zood was unique. Perhaps it was Torse.
**Starts out as a Maxwell character study and morphs into Morse (that's what I always intended it to be but I really love Maxwell)

Summary
“Sometimes when I feel out of place, I’ll spar. It helps distract me,” Max said, gently flexing his fingers beneath his leather gloves.
“As an automaton, I’m afraid I have no ability to improve my physical capabilities through movement or practice,” Torse responded, glancing to the side in a small tell of shyness.
“Spar with me anyways,” Max blurted out, standing quickly.

Summary
Torse reached out and gently pulled Max’s hand closer to examine it. Beyond the bruises, he could certainly feel a more serious ligament tear in the pointer and middle fingers. For the wound to heal swiftly, he would need to allow the fingers to rest and put little strain on them.
“This is a tear. You shouldn’t push yourself, Maxwell. Let them heal instead of straining them more,” Torse said, looking back up to Max’s face. He sighed and gave a begrudging nod, turning to grab a towel to wipe off the remaining shaving cream. “If you would still like to shave, I could help you,” he offered.

Summary
Maxwell isn't entirely sure what he's got wrong, this time. He was in the middle of reprimanding the crew for something he thought was perfectly reasonable when he had been interrupted. Now Marya was snapping at him about his tone. Again. If he was being honest, he was a little tired of it.
