She remembers her mother’s smile when she first wore that new school uniform, Bucky’s cheerful clucks around her classmates and Yuko at her door, a pair of ragged shoes dangling from her fingers.
When Asa speaks again, she hopes her voice doesn’t break like the cracks webbing through her heart.

“Tell me,” L repeats, “what you think happened last night. I assure you that nothing you did I consider a humiliation.”
“Oh my god,” Light mumbles, squeezing his eyes shut. He opens them again before L can tell him to, and stares into the black void that seems so eager to swallow him whole.
L waits, gripping Light’s chin between his thumb and forefinger.
“I…” he wracks his brain, but all he can come up with is the sensation of heat. “I don’t know what happened, or how I got into your side of the bed. I only know–” Light feels his face getting hotter, and he averts his eyes from L’s to stare at a point on his cheek. “I only know how I woke up this morning, and it’s really seeming like you might have had something to do with that.”

A sequel to "uninhibited". Light, hungover, can't remember much from the previous night. L is determined to remind him.
