Steve’s words hammered themselves into Billy’s mind, crushing the stupid, fragile hope of them being something more he’d been keeping up, snuffing it out. He stared at the ugly popcorn ceiling of Steve’s room, stunned, wondering if he’d ever see it again.
Finally, he sat up and looked at Steve, incredulous and hurt. “You don’t want to fuck me anymore?” he asked slowly, emphasizing each word.

Summary
Billy Hargrove and Max Mayfield are proud owners of Tether Café located in West Village, New York.
One day Steve Harrington, an indie rockstar shot into fame by a song he wrote three years ago, stumbles into the café in a desperate search for inspiration. Billy isn’t buying any of Harrington’s signature rockstar moves and puts him in his place, brushing off the guy’s good looks and even the fact that he is capable of making him speechless—which is unheard of.
Soon he realizes that Harrington is annoyingly stubborn and determined to break Billy's resistance and change his mind about never ever dating rockstars again.

And yet here they are, Billy pretending that he’s on a date with some girl while parking a few blocks down from Steve’s house. When Steve’s parents are home, he sneaks in through the window, but tonight, he'd used the front door.

When they get to a point where they can just barely hear the thumping of the music over the chirping crickets, Billy’s serious expression cracks and he bursts out laughing like a drunken, deranged hyena. Steve can’t help but join in, and then they’re both giggling and stumbling around the forest like idiots. Steve bumps into him to snatch the bottle of whiskey from his fist and takes a burning swallow. It warms his blood too much in the balm of the edge-of-summer night and he drags the back of a hand over his mouth with a ragged sound before passing it back. Billy snickers at his expense and fishes a cigarette out of his pack.

They lay like that for a moment, soaking it in. Breathing together slowly, trying not to fall back to sleep, listening to the sound of Mr. and Mrs. Harrington moving around on the other side of the cabin.
“I’ve never skied before,” Billy admits in a whisper.
Steve hums in response, mumbles, “I’ll teach you. I promise.”
“With your level of balance and coordination?” Billy snorts in amusement, earning him a pinch in retaliation, which only makes him laugh harder.
