    Summary

Obi-Wan’s first memory was not his own. Rather, it was a vision steeped in darkness and flashes of red and choking heat and you were my brother and the harsh crash of lightsabers striking one another. He woke up sobbing in the arms of the crèchemaster, Master Kitaddik, who was hushing him and gently stroking the top of his head with her furry hands. Obi-Wan hid his face in the soft folds of her tunic and, still crying, fell back asleep.

The first time Obi-Wan collapsed due to a vision was not long after that.

[Or: in all the various iterations of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life, the Force spoke to him. But in this one, it never stopped.]

    Summary

"Do you usually use a knife?"

"Um, no. Last time was a shovel."

A shovel. Layton tried not to react too visibly to that information, but he was shocked. He glanced over at Luke. He was small, looked younger than he was, and yet was able to somehow kill someone so brutally with a weapon that would require significant strength to wield effectively.

Or: Layton needs to rein in Luke's penchant for particularly gruesome means of murder.

    Summary

“…Crow,” she says. “I appreciate all the help you’ve shown towards my brother in my past, and while it pains me to ask for further hospitality—“

This is obviously a well-rehearsed speech, which immediately makes it one that Crow wants to interrupt. “Look,” he says, “you need something from us, that’s fine, but just say it, why dontcha?”

She hesitates. “It’s… we’re running out of food.”

Crow blinks. Then blinks again. “Aren’t you, like, proper rich?”

(Or: Dealing with those pesky little legal issues that happen when someone dies.)

    Summary

(for the PL fan meme. prompt: Anton is a *real* vampire. yes, i filled it twice.) Luke tried to jerk away, but the shadows had him, now, wrapped around his wrists, tilting his head to the side, and he wanted to close his eyes, as if he could shut it away, as if he could open them and none of it would have happened--

--but he didn't, and so he saw the Professor force his way through the crowd behind them, looking-- absolutely furious, when Luke wasn't sure he'd ever seen the Professor more than 'vaguely annoyed'.

    Summary

Hershel Layton, feeling rather out of place, made his excuses and left Monte d'Or as quickly as possible, with little to no intention of returning.

Unfortunately for him, his apprentice had other plans.
