Summary
After a life-saving mind meld with Spock, Captain Kirk begins to experience vivid dreams of ancient Vulcan, a time of warring clans and primal bonds.
In these dreams, a prince bearing Spock's likeness claims they are destined mates, leaving Kirk haunted by how real everything feels.
When Kirk shares this with Spock, he is told that Vulcans do not dream, deepening the mystery. Unbeknownst to Spock, Kirk is connecting with a remnant of his subconscious left behind from the meld.
As the dreams grow more intense, Kirk finds himself grappling with his own emotions, toward both his trusted first officer and the mysterious Vulcan prince in his dreams.

My K/S Spring Fever 2024 Prompt was Laundry! To fill it, welcome to a few stolen hours during "City on the Edge of Forever"
---
Jim looked over his shoulder, smiling softly. “Take off your shirt.”
“It is far too early for that,” Spock chided.
Jim pulled the dented aluminum washing board from behind the bathroom door and propped it in their sturdy porcelain bathtub. “I also want your undershirt and socks. Give your pants a sniff and let me know if you think they can make it until Friday.”
Spock padded over barefoot. He dropped his socks in the tub and rested a hand on Jim’s back as he leaned over him to turn on the hot water.
“It’s been three weeks. He could be out there anywhere, stark raving mad and naked to the stars.” Jim leaned back into the reassuring solidity of Spock’s warm hand. “He could’ve changed history last week. Or yesterday. Or an hour ago.”
“Or he may not arrive for another hour. Or day. Or week.” Spock put the toilet lid down and sat on it as he peeled off his clothes.

Summary
Without insulating gloves, the human skin felt hot, like a gust of wind on his home planet. Granted, Spock’s hands were more sensitive, yet he lifted Jim’s wrist to his lips in a gesture humans associated with desire. This human, however, pulled his hand away, with a sheepish laugh, drawing him into a kiss.

This story had been inspired by Anatolia's delightful work. However, it is a stand-alone.Bookmarked by Erin707
