Sam had twisted Higgs towards himself and landed a strong punch to his gut before Higgs could finish his teasing. Higgs doubled over—laughing breathlessly—only to be picked right back up by Die-Hardman who still had a grip on the cuffs.
“Bastard.” Tarman muttered under his breath.
Or
Sam takes Higgs on a road trip to deliver him to the UCA after Higgs is somehow alive and in his own body after the events of DS2, but Higgs asshole mask is cracking and revealing the abused and broken man underneath. Both Sam and Higgs have feelings about that, and insults turn into discussions, leading to apologies and inner turmoil.

Max’s whole body slumped in, his eyes falling shut. They refused to open again, every breath a strain on his lungs.
There was a hand seizing him by the back of the hated steel collar around his neck, ripping on it so his head was tilted upwards, calloused fingers gripping his chin. The small pain the rough treatment caused was nothing compared to the one in the rest of his body, Max barely felt it.

Summary
Wins used to feel electric, Lewis' heart drumming against his chest as he speeds past the finish line, quickly followed by the other Mercedes. Podium celebrations were even better, sweet champagne sprayed on him as he showered his fellow podium drivers back, usually with Nico. However, these days, it never feels the same.
Nico's life felt unfulfilled. He had beautiful daughters with a loving wife, trophies that decorated his shelves and enough money to never work again comfortably, so why does his heart still ache at the sight of the racetrack? He hated that despite all he had, he was greedy enough to still want Lewis, even after what he had done to him.

In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when someone gets too close, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.
OR: The 2025 rookies get attached to Max very quickly, pulling him into grid pack dynamics. Unfortunately, Max was cut from the pack in 2015 by Lewis and he still doesn't accept him. Now that Max is getting closer again, the grid is starting to notice something is very wrong with him.
