    Ai’zawa is staring blankly at the projector, trying to process what he’s seeing. The creature on the screen is small and lean, almost hairless with not much of its figure appearing in the footage. It looks normal, ordinary. Like a Rufmiae with some sort of mutation or disease. He thinks that, seeing what he’s seeing, everyone else must be reacting the same way - even the most experienced Heroes shocked into silence.

    Initially, they were all called in here because someone was impersonating a Hero, getting access to confidential information. That was fine - insane - but not unheard of. He could handle some faked documentation.

    What his superiors had failed to mention is that said someone was not only logged into the system with an actual valid license and registration - despite no record of them ever attending a Hero school existing - but also that they had actively helped in cases, went on multiple missions, and didn't seem to belong to any known species.

    The HPSC had called specialists, doctors, scholars. No one recognised it. No one could say where it came from, or even hazard a guess as to what galaxy. Whatever it is, wherever it came from, it legally doesn't exist.

He put one wing back to cover them.

    Meta abilities were rare. They started with that glowing baby in China and seemed to appear at random all over the world. None of those abilities were like this though. Nobody’s entire body changed like this, let alone a whole group of people changing the same way. That detail alone made it clear that these things could not be human at all. They were alien to Earth itself.

    Shinsou Hitoshi had just been trying to avoid his shitty foster home and now he was caught up in an alien abduction with eight other people. What was going to happen to them?
