Summary
synopsis: set between s14 & s15 but sort of canon-divergent. a hated the finale of s15 but it’s good *temporary* angst so instead, let’s pretend that Castiel professed his love earlier (specifically two weeks before Jack’s death in this fic) and had the deal with the Empty, and he’s still in there (for now) because we neit some of that tasty angst. Belphegor came and went, and poor Jack is dead. The brothers Winchester are reeling from their losses, being the only two of our TFW 2.0 alive at the moment, when Jody calls with a job in Iowa. Another rift has opened. What comes out may be the weirdest best thing that’s ever happened to them.
TL;DR: (mixing the s15 destiel moment with a sort of coda to s14) everyone’s dead and the brothers mourn, but a new mystery sends them to Iowa and results in something they could’ve never imagined.

“I made a mistake,” Jack called out before she could cut. She turned her head to face him, yet refused to take the blade off Dean. “I was trying out my powers and I wanted to try time travel, but I lost control and went too far back. I don’t have the strength to make the full jump forward, so we’ve been inching our way back to 2017.”
