His eyes flicker over Vanya and Ben, the only two he couldn’t find in the apocalypse. Not for lack of looking, because Five remembers searching through every pile of rubble that looked vaguely like a house or an apartment, searching for his sister.
He gave that up when the bodies started rotting badly, too afraid of what she might look like now.
He didn’t bother looking for Ben after reading Vanya’s book, which let him know his brother was already long dead.
Wait.
Five’s eyes snap back to where Ben was standing next to Vanya, eyes wide.
When Five comes through the portal, he can see his dead brother.
This changes both nothing and everything.

Summary
It's 2010, and Nico wakes up in an infirmary at a camp he doesn't want to understand, visited by strangers that say their names like he should remember them.
The thing is, the last thing he remembered was being in Bianca's arms in 1940.
(It's 1940, and Nico wakes up in his sister's bed in his eight-year-old self's body, berated like he was a child again. The thing is, the last thing he remembered was being cradled by Will in 2010.)
Of body swaps, outdated vocabulary, and the word "home" burning on the tip of Nico's tongue.

Will stood up, feet ready to take off, but then his ears picked up on someone in the distance grunting. His thoughts wandered from a hurt camper to an intruder. Even then, Will might have to hide behind a tree first to check; and with the confirmation that it was a person sprawled on the grass with some injuries and wounds, he quickly checked their condition.
It was a beautiful man.
Or; Will found an Adult Nico. They became stranded with the heavy rain.

“Yeah.” Thalia muttered, retracting her shield. “Thanks.” She brushed off her pants. “So, who’s your godly parent?”
Nico grimaced. Time for some creative obfuscation. “Um, I don’t know.” He shook his head. “My father left when I was really little. Mother would never talk about him. I don’t…” He paused, looked away. “I don’t remember much of my childhood…”
“You’re a runaway, then.” Luke said.
He’s not wrong. It just wasn’t his family he was running away from.

Basically, I wanted a BAMF Nico di Angelo time travel with actual real meaningful changes to the timeline and major ripple effects! Self-indulgent for sure, since I want to redeem all my favourite characters! What if Nico went back in time to the lotus casino, and snuck out just a bit earlier?
