Summary
Follows from a little before they all met to a love confession. I love Celine, but she's briefly homophobic here. A character study of Rumi where I read her as a little aromantic and demi, hope you like it! It's silly but not as much as my other oneshot of them.

Rumi catches them kissing. It's late at night. Rumi couldn't sleep and got up to get water. They're still on the couch, turtle videos forgotten in the background. Zoey's hair is down and Mira's hand is twisted in it. Zoey's arm is wrapped around Mira's neck with her other hand on her chest. Their eyes are closed and along with the soft hum of the TV, Rumi can hear their breaths and their moans.Rumi gets water. They hear it run and watch Rumi from the couch. They're still in each other's arms, flushed and looking at Rumi in slight shock. Rumi says goodnight again.
Zoey says in disbelief, “Is that all you have to say?”

We all know how the story starts and ends, that is a given. It starts with a boy from Brooklyn trying to get into the army. And ends with a captain handing off a shield.
This story has a different start, and a different ending. It starts, with a theater. And it ends, with a door.The captain pulled out of time. The man with the red star. The woman with the cursed trinket and a trail of blood large enough to submerge in.
This is a story lost to history, told from a new perspective.
This is a story about family, about love and growth.
But it is also about loss, grief and shame.Follow Riley Barnes as she attempts to find her place within this new life, and how not only her existence, but her choices affect everything around her.
For better and worse.Riley’s story is a complicated one, lost within the history books, so I suppose the best way to start this is from the beginning.

Summary
After serving in the military for 10 years after high school, First Sergeant Emerson Moore was honorably discharged home in order to take care of her dad. While her father battles stage three colon cancer, Emerson works all day and night to provide for him and their home.
When she's not working at a local restaurant, Emerson is partaking in her local fight club. Every night she fights the toughest boxers in an attempt to win big. After the last few months her name has become recognizable and every night fifty or more bets are placed on her winning. After a terrible accident and no way to provide for herself or her father, she goes to great lengths to find treatment for her debilitating injury.
Once her injury is fully healed, she's still unable to walk. With no neurosurgeons feeling comfortable performing a risky surgery to fix her damaged nerves, she finds the email of the "retired" Doctor Strange.
