Summary
Everyone has magic. Some are strong and can manipulate the very elements themselves, others are weak, only able to cast basic wards or do simple tricks, but everyone has some sort of magic. Except, that is, for Izuku. Izuku has never been able to cast a single spell, cantrip, or ward. When retired warmage Yagi Toshinori learns of this he asks Izuku to come to his home hidden deep in a forest with one piece of advice - do not leave the path. When Izuku inevitably does, he is ambushed by a kitsune with pale blond hair who seems like he has PLANS for the hapless human. That begins the story of a human with no magic and a creature who has magic running through his very veins, and the life they begin to build together.

Are you gonna spend the whole night hung up on that? Tama cut him off when his thoughts spilled over into conscious consideration.
No! He took a long drink and glanced over to see Date looking out the window. Maybe.
Date and Ryuki get stuck sharing a hotel room while traveling for a case. Date gets drunk. Ryuki does a great job being professional and thinks about every detail of their situation a perfectly normal amount.

“No, I—I didn’t say that,” Ryuki protests. Smiling like this, it’s easy to recognize Date for himself. The way he cocks his head, the way his brows lift, Ryuki would know this expression anywhere. “It’s you that I like, Mr. Date.”
