Dick noticed the cat a few minutes ago. It is big and orange. It had been darting between the bushes in the backyard when Dick first saw it, but now it is laying on the grass. The cat licks its paws and rubs its head, its fluffy tail flicking around in the air. Dick can’t look away, an odd pit in his stomach. He nibbles on the end of the pencil that he is supposed to be writing with, eyes locked beyond the glass window.
