Distantly, Bruce knew this was a bad idea that he was almost certainly going to regret.
That thought was gone almost as soon as it came, however, as he stumbled outside the large doors of the gala venue with his phone in hand.
OR: a heartbroken Bruce drinks a bit too much at a gala, and calls his ex to beg for another chance.
This confuses Clark, who was pretty darn sure Bruce was the one that had broken up with him, but Bruce seems to believe the opposite.

When a mission goes sideways and leaves Batman with a severe compound fracture, Superman flies him back to the Watchtower in a panic. Half-delirious from high-grade Wayne-Tech painkillers, Bruce begs Clark not to cut "it" off.
Clark thinks Bruce is talking about his leg.Bruce is actually talking about his multi-million-dollar, custom-engineered, seamless Bat-suit.
What follows is an eight-second laser-vision disaster, a terrifyingly high-pitched "Nothing!" from the Man of Steel, and the ultimate realization that the World's Greatest Detective cares a lot more about his hard work than a broken bone.
