Something tired and spiteful stirred in you. It made your gaze harden. The rain poured down harder around you.
"Not always," you muttered and you faltered when you saw Nightwing's reaction. He only looked at you with a new kind of conviction, like he deserved your ire and that he'd take it in stride now and do better. Guilt replaced your spite, then, and you wondered why you always ended up doing this.
"Maybe," Nightwing replied. "But I'll try anyways."

There is hope for even the most broken of us. Sometimes the cracks fill in and the jagged edges round off. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll be alright.

Summary
Batman dies saving Red Hood.
Jason Todd doesn't agree with this outcome and wishes for more time.
He wakes up, thirteen and earnest, in his childhood bedroom in Wayne Manor. Bruce is knocking at his door in an attempt to rouse him. Jason remembers this day. They're going to a Gotham Knights game later in the afternoon. Bruce's blood is still warm and criminal on his hands.
‘“Have you ever thought about that?” Jason murmurs. “Being rich in time?”
He feels Bruce’s fingers carding through his hair again. “It’s the most precious commodity of all. It’s priceless. It’s the one thing that I wish I had more of. You don’t have to worry about that, Jay. You’re fifteen. You have your whole life ahead of you.”’
Or, the one where being Robin never gave Jason magic—he was a little magic all along. Jason decides to do things a little differently the second time around. Wherein time casts a spell on them, and Bruce discovers the drag path Jason left in his wake.
