    Summary

In music, counterpoint is the art of weaving two independent melodies into harmony. Different, but inseparable.

Wei Wuxian has spent years trying to forget he was ever meant for more than dive bars and retail hell. But then a viral video, a pristine job offer, and a man with perfect pitch change everything.

Between live gigs and pedagogy exams, expectations and a few cans of beer, two people learn what harmony really means: finding someone who hears your chaos, and still chooses to call it music.

(Or: Wei Wuxian gets fired, gets hired, and accidentally falls in love with the most competent man alive. Not necessarily in that order.)

    Summary

Wei Wuxian knows how this story ends.

Knowing, it turns out, is not the same as stopping it.

Given a second chance he never asked for, Wei Wuxian tries to prevent a future that has already begun repeating itself. Desperately refusing to let anyone else bear the weight of what he remembers, he rearranges the chess board.

Turns out fighting inevitability is more dangerous than facing all the ghosts in the underworld.
    Some things can be changed.
    Others only break differently.

    Summary

Everyone had heard the stories about Wei Wuxian.

    The loud omega.
    The reckless omega.
The omega no one could control.

Lan Wangji expected trouble when their paths crossed.

He did not expect a quiet apartment, a small child with stuffed rabbits, and an omega who looked like he had not slept in weeks.

Some reputations are built on truth.

Others hide everything that actually matters.

“Maybe showing you what happened after your death would change your mind.”

He assented with a nod. She placed a palm on his head and barely a minute later he shuddered violently, jerking away from her, cursing and shrinking into himself.

“So, Wei Wuxian, how about it? Will you let your name be cursed for all eternity or will you take my offer to rewrite your fate?.”

    Or

Wei Wuxian is shown what happens after his death and he’s just done.

    Summary

The first thing Wei Ying became aware of was cold steel at his throat.
    Not one blade—several.
    He did not move.

Sleep still clung to him, heavy and disorienting, but instinct burned through it fast enough. His eyes cracked open to darkness cut by lantern light, and beyond it, the rigid silhouettes of Gusu Lan disciples. White robes. Swords steady. Not trembling.
    Not a mistake, then.

Wei Ying let out a slow breath, careful not to shift against the edge pressing lightly into his skin. “Well,” he said, voice rough with sleep, “this is a new way to wake up.”

    No one laughed.
That, more than the swords, told him something was very wrong.

“You will come with us,” one disciple said. Young. Formal. Afraid—but hiding it well. “You are to be detained and questioned.”

“Questioned?” Wei Ying echoed. His mind raced, sifting through the previous day. Punishments—yes. Lan Wangji standing over him like a silent judge. Copying rules until his wrist ached. Kneeling until his legs went numb. Nothing new, nothing unusual, nothing that should end with… this.

He frowned. “Did I break a new rule I haven’t heard of yet?”
