Summary
Robby could never mind his own damn business.
It came with the occupation, afterall, being a doctor required the deepest form of intimacy. Needling inside people’s bodies with wires and pliers, fingers and scalpels and longwinded diagnoses. That kind of trust was not given freely. He had to be grateful for it, even with all that was thrown at him.
So, forgive him if he pried a little too deeply into his loved one’s lives, because it was better than his fingers in their chest cavity, their body limp on his gurney. Better than cardiac failure or kidney ruptures or gaping, bleeding wounds that would cake beneath his fingernails despite how many times he washed and rewashed and sanitized his hands.
That’s all to say, maybe he should have minded his business instead of eavesdropping on Jack’s quiet phone call on PTMC’s rooftop like a voyeur.
But Robby cared, he cared deeply. Was that really so bad?
OR: Jack and Langdon are together, Robby is not normal about it.

Sinking against him, fisting his hands in Frank’s scrub top, Dennis just hangs on tight. For the moment, he allows Frank to think he’s in charge, lets him take the lead over him.
When his hands come down to Dennis’s waistband, though, Dennis catches both wrists in his own, forces them apart. It’s not difficult to move Frank around; he keeps his hands separated, and their kiss breaks, Frank panting as he stares at him with those piercing eyes of his, blue rims now around blown black pupils, his face flushed in splotches of hectic color.
“We might only have a few minutes,” Dennis points out, pushing Frank back a stumbling step. Releasing his wrists, sinking down to his knees, Dennis tugs Frank’s scrub bottoms down with him, pooling them around his ankles. “Someone could come at any minute and open the doors.”

Jack had just stepped back onto the main floor when he clocked movement at the ambulance entrance, two guys hurrying in, the smaller one helping a guy with a sweatshirt covered in blood. But something was wrong, some unnamable instinct rising within Jack at the way they moved. It was too fluid, too controlled. Jack knew what the walking wounded looked like, had seen it for years, from war zones to bar fights. This wasn't the injured seeking help; this was men hunting.
Time slowed, Jack's heart rate spiking, the adrenaline dump casting everything in sharp relief—the full ED floor, patients plus shift change meaning twice the usual personnel were here.
Robby was here.
That thought got him moving, Jack approaching laterally. He got there right as the guns came out.

The dialogue is so perfectly in character for both of them that it wasn’t until halfway through the fic that I realised I was reading it in their voices without any effort. Phenomenal fic
