Summary
As Mask tried to relax into his bedroll, a tight ball of something curled in his chest. A wrongness he couldn’t identify, and it made him restless and tense.
Mask tilted his head back, feeling the crisp chill of the night on his face. His cozy blanket wrapped around him. Chirping crickets and the familiar rustles of small animals filled the night. “I know a place not too far from here more suited for a little chat.” He inclined his head towards the alley opening, then led the way.
Eleni hesitated, and Lumine tugged on Eleni’s shoulder. Shaking herself and straightening, she trailed behind cautiously.Lumine nudged her lightly, “Hey, it’s going to be alright.” She gave a small smile, which Eleni ignored. “I know you haven’t had the best first impression…”
Eleni glared daggers at her.
Lumine winced, but pressed on, “But really, they’re good people. You just have to get to know them.”
Eleni scowled. ‘Not likely.’
