Castiel is a Man of Letters.
And even though they have to work together on a regular basis, there is not much sympathy between them. Castiel thinks Dean is too brash and reckless while Dean in return sees nothing more in the other man than a rude asshole with an obsessive love for books and a truly terrible fashion sense.
But fate clearly has a funny way of throwing these two together over and over again.

Summary
Castiel needs to buy an anniversary present. Sam Winchester never imagined that such a simple question would turn into the most frustrating investigation of his life. Because Castiel, apparently, has a partner. He won't say who it is. He doesn't seem interested in hiding it. Everyone acts as if it's common knowledge.
And as the cases keep piling up, Sam begins to notice a pattern impossible to ignore: Castiel is always where Dean is. He always knows what Dean needs before Dean even says it. He always protects him first.

This work is completed. It comes in three chapters, which I'm going to post every other day - so you'll have the whole story by Saturday.
