As it turns out, a vampire womb is a terrible place for magical witch babies. And somehow everyone decides it's not the fault of an irresponsible coven's hail mary, but the fault of the baby vampire already dealing with the emotional fall out of a traumatic miscarriage.
Par for the course as far as Caroline is concerned. So she leaves every shred of herself in the place where she dies, where her mom died, where her unborn babies died, and seeks kinder shores to pick up the remaining pieces.

Summary
Elena wants to bring Lexi back to life so Lexi can help Stefan trough the trauma of drowning over and over. She doesn't want Damon to find out about this so she asks Bonnie and Caroline to help her find a solution. After Bonnie and Elena also had a "private" conversation Bonnie finds out Elena is up to something other then helping Stefan, namely setting Klaus and Caroline up. And the solution they come up with "just happens" to be in the city where Klaus Michealson is hiding out.
