Dana was having an oddly slow day at work. Those days usually mean something bad is brewing on the horizon. She didn't expect the day to blow up into chaos. She had thought her secret was safe, but she was way too easy to read to others.
But with one poor mistake in the field and stubborn pride aside, chaos doesn't just rain; it pours.

Summary
Dennis stared at the calendar plastered on the hub's counter. It was the large office ones that took up a lot of space and weren't needed when technology took over every aspect of Healthcare. He stared at the series of months, only focusing on the one in the center– June, and the variety of scribbles that people (mostly Trinity and Mel) had framed the four-letter word. He scanned the days, reading through them methodically as he held his breath. Until he focused on one particular day, the 21st, and the sinking, harsh feeling left its wake.
One could say that grief gets easier as years go by. It can be fleeting, like a flock of birds in flight, or as harsh as stone pressed against a chest. But the weight gets heavier when particular anniversaries hit— one year, five years, ten years. Fuck. It's been too long.

Dennis Whitaker has hated storms for as long as he can remember. From under a pile of rubble with a long shard of 2x4 piercing through his side, he thinks about the massive “I told you so” he’s going to say to his therapist if he somehow lives through the night.

Dennis is injured in the field while facing one of his worst fears, and Robby has to deal with the reality that he has feelings for Dennis, that Dennis might not recover, and that it's his fault that Dennis was in the field in the first place.

But Dennis didn't come looking for a goodbye; just the keys to Robby's house and maybe a few instructions about the plants. Instead, he gets a hug that lingers, a kiss neither of them were supposed to want.
Dennis ends up saying something that makes Robby have a change of heart.

Immediately, Dennis was blushing again. Hard. Anything that previously came out of Robby’s mouth was tame compared to this charged tension in the room that Robby wasn’t even in. How did he always seem to do that?
Before Dennis could open his mouth to respond, Robby chuckled and asked, “Have you been holding back from me, Whitaker?”

The first time Robby called Dennis on his sabbatical, Dennis didn't think much of it. That was until he kept calling, and Dennis always kept answering. Before he knew it, Dennis was calling him, and shit. He was in a talking stage with his boss.
